Proposed residential development at Townsend Nursery, The Street, Clare.

The purpose of this online consultation is to seek the views of the local community before a planning application is submitted.

The proposed development comprises the erection of 23 dwellings.

The dwellings will consist of 17 open market properties and 6 affordable homes. The open market homes will include of a mix of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes. The 6 affordable homes, shown as plots 1-6 on the plan,  will include a mix of 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom homes designed to meet a need identified by West Suffolk Council.

The proposed dwellings will be bespoke designs. They will reflect the Suffolk vernacular style and incorporate the use of traditional materials.

An extensive landscaping scheme will be implemented as part of the development.

The scheme has been carefully designed to respect its surroundings and to minimise the impact on neighbouring properties. Plots 7, 8, 9 and 13 will be bungalows to avoid overlooking properties in Gilbert Road.

The proposal will generate a number of benefits in accordance with the objectives of sustainable development.

Economic benefits - New residents will help to maintain the viability of existing shops and services in the town.

Social benefits - The development will provide affordable and low-cost starter homes for local people.

Environmental benefits -The site is within walking and cycling distance of services in the village and bus stops providing links to Bury St Edmunds. The new landscaping at the site will improve biodiversity.
